Application first. Live Scan second.
Online applicants should submit and pay in BreEZe before fingerprinting. Paper applicants must follow the current payment timing: wait until a personal check is cashed, or allow the stated processing time after a money order or cashier’s check.
Live Scan steps that close the loop
- 1
Submit and pay for the application
Online: save the BreEZe receipt. Paper with personal check: wait until it is cashed. Paper with money order or cashier’s check: follow the current BSIS waiting instruction before fingerprinting.
- 2
Use the Security Guard Request for Live Scan Service form
Do not use a generic form or one created for another license type. Print the current form from the official BSIS page and complete it accurately.
- 3
Bring three copies and valid identification
Names, birth date, and identifying information should match the application. Ask the location for the full price, including the current DOJ/FBI portion and the operator’s rolling fee.
- 4
Keep your completed copy and ATI number
The ATI number identifies the fingerprint transaction. Photograph or scan the completed copy and keep the paper original until the registration is issued.
- 5
Track two different things
Use the ATI to check fingerprint transmission, then separately use the official license search or BreEZe account to check the application. “Responses sent” does not mean the guard card is approved.
Common mistakes
- Fingerprinting before the application/payment step is complete.
- Using a form for another license or employer.
- Entering identity details that do not match the application.
- Losing the ATI number or assuming it is a license number.
- Comparing only the operator fee instead of asking for the full total.
